The Coeur d’Alene River is a true North Idaho gem! A quick 30 mile trip from the beautiful town of Coeur d’Alene, this river flows through the heavily forested mountains of the Coeur d’Alene National Forest. There is a very healthy population of Cutthroat trout that can reach up to 21 inches. Anglers remain busy throughout the day while fighting with these remarkable native fish. There are also well managed populations of rainbow trout and whitefish.
ROW Adventures runs both float and walk-and-wade trips on the Coeur d’Alene. We operate walk and wade trips on the upper reaches of the North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene. There are also several remote feeder streams, including TeePee and Independence creeks, that offer excellent walk and wade fly fishing for over-sized cutthroat. ROW Adventures is proud to offer guests the exclusive opportunity to float the upper stretch of the Coeur d’Alene. We are the only outfitter that is licensed to float this remote stretch of the river known as the North Fork, and our guests enjoy the serenity of this private experience.
Many different fly fishing techniques can be used on this river, and the varied terrain creates a range of water categories including riffles, runs and deep-emerald pools. Each season the Coeur d’Alene boasts a variety of different hatches. Fishermen can expect to see prolific May Fly and Golden Stone hatches in May and June. Parachute Adams and different terrestrial patterns mark the summer months. The waters of north Idaho during the fall months of September and October are famous for their October caddis hatches.
